BELOIT APPOINTMENT BOOKS

Each year Beloit Corporation distributed hundreds (or maybe thousands thousands of calendar packets to customers and employees. Each packet contained a greeting card, a 12" x 18" calendar and a 3.5" x 7" appointment book.  Both customers and employees looked forward  to the annual distribution of the calendar packet.  As soon as they were available the telephones would start ringing in sales and public relations requesting calendars and appointment books.

The appointment book became a status symbol. If you had one you belonged  to the Beloit  "insider club".  Where ever Beloit people gathered, at  customer meeting, a conference or internally at a Beloit facility, out would come the appointment book.

	This collection consists of 30 books dating from 1964 to 1997 with a few years missing. The appointment books included a 12 month appointment calendar and a Phone Directory of the current year and listed the staff' name, position and location.
	The oldest is a 1964 book, the newest a 1997 book.  The older dated books, included a Phone Directory for Beloit, WI  and Divisions. As the years progressed the staff listing increased in size.  As Beloit acquired companies and added divisions, the names of Divisions and staff were added. As an example, in 1980 the appointment book contained a Phone Directory of 15 pages and listed started listing acquisition companies.
	1997 appointment book. contained a 91 page phone directory. To review the phone directory of this appointment book The lists are reproduced here. (The phone numbers are deleted to protect employee privacy).
