Occupied box making shop and built and installed new dryer

lathe designed to accommodate 60" by 260" dryers.

Started plant wide paging and call system.

On October 3 entertained members of "Tappi" and laid the

cornerstone of new roll shop. Dinner for the members was held

at the Wagon Wheel.

Open house for all employee families and public October 3.

News item: "Iron Works air freights 9 tonload—Rock County^

facilities were proved Saturday when two C-47's stopped at airport

and carried off 18,000 pounds of machinery consigned by Beloit

Ironworks."

The Mead Corporation celebrates one hundred years of paper

making (1846-1946), The Iron Works has been privileged to serve

all their mills located at Brunswick, Manistique, Knoxville, Sylva,

Escanaba, Leominster, Harriman, and Nashville.

Moved brass foundry into revamped Gaston building.

Produced: Four winders, six reels, three presses, four four-

driniers, five dryer sections, and four calender stacks.
