lathe departments.

The Beloit Export Corporation with Gaston J. Bertrand, vice

president, was licensed as a Delaware Corporation during December.

Commenced building enclosed dryer gear drives, also air

guides for dryer felts, press felts, and wires,

First Wise Owl Club in southern Wisconsin dedicated on April 25

with Mr. Neese presenting three employees a Wise Owl award for

saving their eyesight through wearing protective glasses.

Instituted Eye Protection Program throughout the plant making

it compulsory to wear eye protection during working hours in plant

areas.

Dane Building purchased August 31. It was originally built in

1947. Used as an engineering annex for a period of time.

Island cleared from river channel. Acquired through city of

Beloit vacating Second Street o206 acres, from the Beloit Boxboard

Company .290 acres, from Dane Lumber Company .310 acres, and

through removal of island from river 1.000 acres. These acquisitions

brought the Beloit Iron Works holdings up to approximately 15-1/4

acres.
