The Iron Works sponsored a tree-planting project on its property in

South Beloit.

Central machine shop and stock room added to be used as Giddings

bar department.

Inaugurated college scholarships for employee^ children, in which

Mr, Harry Moore, president, presented two four year scholarships to

Jacqueline Burnham and Robert Petrof.

Lee Paper Company celebrated its golden anniversary on May 31.

E. H Neese. Jr,, chosen as one of the outstanding young men of the

year by the Wisconsin Junior Chamber of Commerce.

The Beloitlron Works inaugurated its first pension plan for employees

with the exception of the foundry employees. Cliff Carratt, wood shop

foreman, became the first employee to avail himself of this planned re-

tirement.

Clarence Ledell completed fifty years of service with the company.

This year witnessed the likelihood of the company being asked to

design a 332" fourdrinier machine, the widest in the world, in the near

future.

.4 500 ton straightening press installed in the weldry annex along

with a new sand blast room, cranes, and continuous welding machine.

Harry C Moore, president of the Beloit Iron Works, elected director

of the local State Bank.

A thousand ton. brake installed in the main weldry.

On October 21 the Wisconsin chapter of the Young Presidents 

Organization made a tour of Beloit Iron Works.

On October 31 Sir Robert and Lady Sinclair of Imperial Tobacco

Company in England visited Beloit Iron Works.

Gaylord Corporation and Crown Zellerbach Corporation merger voted.

Ontario-Minnesota Paper and Pulp Company, Limited, personnel paid

a visit to the Beloit Iron Works. The visitors were J. B. Faegre, president; R. Faegre, vice president; J. Ho Davidson, E. Lamb, Paul

A. Lawrence, C. Larson, A. McGregor, J. F, MacKellar, K. F.

 Speelman, Paul Mahony, and F. Alexander.

The Beloit Iron Works Credit Union showed assets of $600,017 as of

August 31.
