Vice President J. W. Veness resigned from the

company.

A. Aldrich married Miss Jennie Janvrin on

December 1.

October 1: Articles of Agreement entered into

between Merrill and Houston Iron Works (John D.

Rexford, President) and Fred Messer, Alonzo Aldrich,

Noble Ross and William Grinnell to lease with right

to purchase real estate and water rights upon condition

that the parties of the second part perform certain

covenants as stated in said agreement.

Beloit Iron Works purchased a little over one

acre of land from Merrill and Houston Iron Works.

By October there were sufficient orders on hand

to maintain a working force of 48 employees.

Col. H. A. Frambach organized the Badger

Paper Company at Kaukauna, Wisconsin.

The Outagamie Paper Mill was launched in the

same town.
