transferred to Fred Messer, Alonzo Aldrich, Noble Ross and William

Grinnell all property described as Lots 7-8-9 Tenney's Addition 

together with Lots 42-57 Hackett's Addition.

Fred Messer, Alonzo Aldrich, Noble Ross and William Grinnell

transferred property to the Beloit Iron Works, described as Lots 7-8-9 Tenney's Addition and Lots 42-57 Hackett's Addition.

September 8, 1889

Merrill and Houston Iron Works (John D. Rexford, President)

sold and transferred to the Beloit Iron Works property described as

parts of Lots 234-235 Hackett's Addition and Lots 1-2 Tenney's Addition,

all lying east of the Tail Race, known as the Island Property. This

purchase comprised approximately four and a half acres.

Beloit Iron Works moved its foundry from the Third Street site

to the Island Property.

Mr. Fred Messer, president of the Beloit Iron Works, died.

Mr. L. B. Merrill was elected vice-president of the company,

Mr. Aldrich continued as secretary and general manager, Mr. N. J.

Ross was superintendent, and Mr. William Grinnell was treasurer of

the Iron Works.

Company occupied the three-story pattern storage building.

The Beloit Iron Works advertised itself as Manufacturers of Cast

Iron Wood Tub Bearing Engines, Chilled Rolls, Wet Machines for Pulp

Mills, Calenders, Cone Pulley and Stop Cutters, Heavy and Medium

Automatic Ream Cutters, Iron and Gun-metal Plunger Pumps, Fan

Pumps: six sizes, Kingsland Engines, Steel Knives, Rag Cutters, Rag

Dusters, Revolving and Stack Reels, Single and Double Iron Screen

Vats, Friction Pulleys, Cylinder Washers with Galvanized or Copper

Dippers, Heaviest Washer Frames in the market. Calender and Press

Rolls accurately ground. Can turn out a complete paper machine every

thirty days.
