Comments:

The Willamette Pulp and Paper Company, Oregon

City, Oregon, started up its 151" Fourdrinier.

Franzen Paper Mill on the east side of the Rock

River in Beloit sold its two water wheels to the Beloit

Electric Light and Power Company. These wheels were

rated at 60 H. P. each.

Charles Warner, chief engineer for the Ironworks,

made the first drawings for a removable fourdrinier

which were never used.

The Park Falls Paper and Pulp Company changed

its name to that of The Flambeau Paper Company, later

being absorbed by the Kansas City Star as a source of

newsprint.

Fred M. Coones, a native of Rockton, Illinois,

purchased the Rockton Paper Mill on July 28, 1898.
