Comments:

Machine (Beloit's 143) for the Consolidated Water Power and Paper

Company was placed in operation. This proved one of the first paper machines

to exceed the speed of 1000 f..p.m and was equipped with the first removable

fourdrinier comprising five removable sections. The machine ran with a plain

couch and plain press rolls.

Mr. N. J. Ross retired as treasurer and vice president of the Beloit Iron

Works.

Blueprinting was done by exposing paper and tracings to the daylight on a

run-out from the second floor of the office.

A. Aldrich, president, used to arrive at the plant in a Packard four-door

convertible sedan while N. J, Ross, treasurer, drove a two passenger electric c

cab.

Whole new foundry was built complete with steel framing and brick walls.

Horsepower hoists were utilized to hoist bricks and mortar to the bricklayers.

Frank L. Tenney associated with the Beloit Iron Works.

The Beloit Iron Works acquired 32 o 3 acres of land in South Beloit, Illinois,

formerly utilized as a fair grounds to which at a later date was added a piece of

land 2,09 acres. The main fair ground building was used for the storage of

obsolete or seldom used patterns.
