L. H. Hornbostel elected vice president of engineering ..

E, H. Neese, Sr., wrote letters of encouragement to all servicemen

from Beloit Iron Works serving in the various armed forces.

Mrs. E. H. Neese, Sr., exhibited her water colors painted in Arizona

at the Newhouse Galleries, New York, for the benefit of the American Red Cross.

On May 4 the National Labor Relations Board decreed balloting on unions recognition

and to determine the employee bargaining agent, if any, for purposes of collective bargaining for certain employees of the Beloit

 

Ironworks, resulting in Agreement entered into between Beloit Iron Works and Lodge No. 1197.

International Association of Machinists District No. 101, American Federation of Labor.

On December 12 Beloit Iron Works cited for the third time for an Army Navy Production Award.

On May 28 the Iron Works Glee Club made its debut at the Beloit Adult Vocational School

with Frank Salerno as director and Miss Rhona Fitzgerald as accompanist.

War material produced: Windlasses, winches, quadrants, fillers,

planer-millers, diesel blocks, scavengers, uniflow cylinders, fly-wheels,

propellor shafting, pistons. Corvette engines, crankpin lathes, powder

mills, rubber mills and calenders, steady-rests, cam cases, thrust shafts,

gland rings, over-arms, die blocks, and steering gears.

A 250 ton hydraulic straightening machine built along with an 85 ton

combination press and roll covering machine, both of which are installed

and placed in operation.
