VRML is an acronym for Virtual Reality Markup Language. VRML is the language used to manually compose VRML files.
VRML Worlds allows the viewer to manipulate images in 3 dimension. Rotate, resize, tip, reverse or do just about anything your skill and imagination can conjure.
Before we get into it there are some things you should know to view VRML Worlds.:
Browsers:
1. Unfortunately, some browsers do not perform well with VRML. The most superior at the time seems to be Microsoft's Internet Explorer. Netscape is also acceptable. The popular Firefox browser is very "cranky" in this area.
2. In addition to using a VRML friendly browser a plug-in is required. Browsers are not delivered with VRML capability. Fortunately plug-ins for most functions are available free. You may have to try several plug-ins before you find one that is suitable for your version of browser.
Plug-in:
What is a plug-in? A plug-in is a hardware or software module that adds a specific feature or service to a larger system. For example, there are a number of plug-ins for browsers that enable them to display different types of audio, video, or VRML scenes.
Plug-ins are typically very small files that sit innocently on the user's hard drive and do all sorts of neat things.
Plug-in s extend the capabilities of a software program. It allows the program user the ability to add extra features to the main program (such as sound to a browser or extra picture filters to an image editing program). This way the user can customize their software with the features they would most use without wasting valuable hard drive space on features they don't need.
